Asst. Prof. Dr. Palang Wongtanasuporn is a distinguished Thai academic and design practitioner in the field of industrial and product design. He currently serves in the Department of Industrial Design and Package Design, Faculty of Industrial Technology, at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU), Bangkok, Thailand.
Dr. Wongtanasuporn earned his Doctor of Design from the National Institute of Design Research at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia in 2010. He also holds a Master of Engineering in Product Design Innovation (2003) from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (1997).
With a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Wongtanasuporn has held several key leadership positions, including Dean and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, as well as Head of Department and Senator of the Faculty Senate. His early professional journey also includes industry experience as a CAD/CAM Designer at Toshiba Chemical Thailand and as a Product Designer at Nopious Co., Ltd.
Dr. Wongtanasuporn’s scholarly work focuses on sustainable product design, community-based manufacturing, packaging innovation, and user-centered design. His publications span journals and international conferences, covering topics such as:
Design strategies for Thai village-based manufacturers
Sustainable design development aligned with the sufficiency economy philosophy

Print media and feminism approaches
Design innovation for Thai SMEs and handicrafts
He has authored key textbooks including Technical Drawing (3rd Ed.) and Computer-Aided Industrial Design, both widely adopted in Thai design education International and National Engagement
Recognized for his thought leadership, Dr. Wongtanasuporn has been invited as a visiting lecturer, design workshop leader, and thesis examiner by institutions across Malaysia (UPM, UiTM), Taiwan, China (Tongji University), and Australia (Swinburne University). He has also contributed as an editorial board member for international design journals and conferences, such as IJIDECS and Resilient Smart Technology, Environment and Design Conference.
Domestically, he has played a pivotal role in driving design innovation for community development—collaborating with Thai government bodies like the Office of Basic Education Commission, Community Development Offices, and IPST (สสวท.).
